Bit of a Necro here (pun Intended) but I finally got to this game while working through my “Coronapocalypse” backlog.

This is the best review I’ve read of this game, I think. I’d also like to point out that the difficulty options have been patched post-update, and you can now make the game HARD... I am a fan of all things TRPG and found the difficulty well-balanced at the second to highest setting during my first play through.

I fully agree that the “choose your own adventure” part of the game was disappointing in that it was essentially a coin toss and your decisions didn’t have any ramifications for later in the game. That said, there is some nice background story writing and context there and it keeps with the “perfectly 40k” vibe of the game, which is just so surprisingly good and definitely one of my favorite things about the game.

But otherwise, I have been surprisingly enjoying this game and recommending it to all my friends who enjoy the genre. I agree that it is like a 40k cross of Xcom and ITB.

For fans of the the genre, I think it’s a must-play. And I can’t wait to play it again on the Switch when it launches in consoles in a few months.

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! This one turned out a little more list-y than I'd like, but part of the reason I'm back is that I decided to stop obsessing over the reviews that get away from me a bit and just enjoy the process of writing.
