I really enjoyed running through the Tales and that's a decent chunk of content to sit through. Ultimately I'm happy to have enjoyed that now that the content is there, but I am not sure Rare would be happy to see me go. The incidental stuff is great to fill out the sides of a session, but little more.

It is really fun and refreshing to have the puzzles on offer here through as the whole co-operative focus is absolutely refreshing and fun. Any game that makes me grab my pad of post-it notes to start working stuff out at least deserves some congratulations.

Do you think any of Sea of Thieves' problems are the result of the "games as toys" mentality taken to the extreme? When I first heard about it I dismissed it as another game like Minecraft: largely unstructured faffing about that is probably great fun for anyone who likes that sort of thing, but kind of boring if what you want is structure and context. And the multiplayer focus seemed to drive that point home, sounding like the kind of thing you'd see a group of streamers dick around in only to discover later that it's actually not very fun when you aren't a wacky person with wacky friends.

And it seems I've largely been proven right! I fear that the age of streaming has made developers overestimate the proportion of the public that just wants a set of mechanics with which to make their own fun.
