Just wanted to say that I have recently found this blog and, as a fellow "science person", it has been great! Thanks for the excellent review! I would just add that I think the issue with the Alien in that game was caused by a bug on the AI code that is easily fixed by a mod. But you probably knew that already

I've played 4 a little and didn't like it and video of RE7 was fun. I'm thinking about this one but what about RE1 remake? Seems to be logical to try it first. There was no hype when it released yet it seems like a very similar deal in terms of quality. Was it inferior or did people not care about the franchise before RE7 relit that flame?

Watching my boyfriend play this inspired me to give the series more of a shot (I had only played 4), so I'm starting with the RE1 remake on PS4. The resource management angle is certainly interesting, though I think you have to push through the initial frustration until you reach the point where you're mulling over what to do with a crest while going about your day. I can't help but wish that Capcom had better writers, though. The campiness undercuts the story and these weird locations never really make sense.
