This was a few months ago and I don't have chapter and verse, but one of the developers made some very biotruths-y statements on the Factorio subreddit (think "women are inherently worse at programming", that kind of thing). When he was gently called out on it he went absolutely nuclear. I think there was a rant about cancel culture in there and he doubled down to the point that the moderators ended up having to delete his comments as being against the subreddit's CoC. There was also activity on the official Factorio Twitter account that indicated they were perfectly fine with the controversy because it was boosting their sales numbers and/or review ratings and they were totally non-apologetic about it.

So, you know, fuck 'em. I don't want to make anyone who is playing and enjoying Factorio feel bad, because it's a good game and it's not like you can know the devs are assholes just from playing it. It's something to perhaps be aware of should they ever push out any DLC or a sequel though.

Thanks for the write up, as always! I’m so glad to see I’m not the only one who fondly recalls the TD glory days of the early 2010s… I never played the original or sequel but I think I’ll snap this one up on sale for sure… also, I’ve quite enjoyed the Kingdom Rush games for iOS as well. It’s pretty good for a mobile game.

Also, @ilitarist it looks like DQ2 is still in the works. The original website seems to be OBE but I joined the Discord and it appears the game is still being developed. https://www.fortressofdoors.com/the-rule-of-firsts-in-game-testing-dq2-progress-report-for-july-2021/

I must admit that I completely missed the original DQ1, as it came out during my “great hiatus” of gaming (I stopped hardcore gaming for 8ish years to get married, have kids and start a career… now I’m back as gamer dad!) That said this looks like it could be right my alley. I’m also going to snap this up next sale.
