Youre right. I have a few games on the account that I'm just waiting for the internet to stop working so I can play. I feel like I need a certain atmosphere to play certain games. Anyway, Will definitely look into the guide and give it a shot!

I'm not saying it's *that* easy to get into, but using the guide linked above I was pretty up on how everything worked after about an hour, which is about four hours quicker than either Hearts 2 or EU 3. If you have it on your account it'd be a shame not to play it because it's really very good.

http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3487258 is the one I was pointed towards, and unlike a lot of the garbage that comes out of SA it's deliberately instructional and very, very helpful.

The tutorial and early starting of the game is... not the most helpful. It is informative, but doesn't really direct you very well and it's harder to jump into if you have no experience of Paradox games.

Unfortunately I don't have any helpful advice expect trying to find somewhere that will give you a blow-by-blow video Let's Play or something. Once you can see how things /can/ function, you get a better idea of how to operate the machinery.

I agree with Hentzau and disagree with Jim (except for the bit where they both agree). Unlike either, I have enjoyed EU, Victoria and CK. I've played a lot of EU2, which I loved, and delved some time into Victoria 1 (which I was bamboozled by... but loved) and spent huge amounts of time in CK1. I've also played plenty of EU3 and now I play an awful lot of CK2. The only major Paradox strategy line I've not had luck with is Hearts of Iron. Like Hentzau I just bounce off the game - I can't get into it and feel comfortable.

I will say that EU, Victoria and CK are very very very different games. Victoria has a lot more in common with EU and CK is very much an outsider, but they do represent very different facets. All of which I like. But if I was on whim to fire up a game, it would be CK. And now CK2. I love if for the same reasons Hentzau's enjoyed it. Really, it appeals much more to my love of the medieval period (and earlier) and makes it all work.

There are flaws, as stated above, but both CK1 and CK2 have been incredibly enjoyable experiences out of the box and it looks like CK2 will continue improving.

Also - nice review! Like the counter-point presentation...
